As a classically trained vocalist, I have travelled extensively, performing with orchestras, opera companies and in recitals. I have performed frequently in the operas of Wagner, Strauss and Verdi . A large number of my solo engagements have been as a soprano soloist with orchestra in oratorio or vocal solo.
Having received my Masters degree in vocal pedagogy in 2013, I began teaching in earnest soon after. I currently maintain an active vocal studio in Chicago. The real challenge is to balance achievement, focus and perspective in the teaching and learning approach. I strive to maintain an holistic and healthy approach to nurturing vocal musicians.
As a teacher, I seek to understand my students’ approach to singing and do anything I can to help them sing better, communicate more clearly, and enjoy the activity of learning to sing properly.
Guiding a student to discover their best singing is always my intention. As they learn to sing properly, I strive to teach each student how to “teach themselves” in their practice sessions.
